America’s Next Top Model: What We Have Here Is a Failure to Communicate

Linebreak Linebreak

After Lisa’s elimination at the last panel there was sure to be discussion over the fact that Heather got to stay while Lisa was let go. But let’s face it!  Heather took better pictures and was more confident than Lisa.  However, if Heather can’t deliver in person she may not have a shot at the Top Model title which I and America think she so wholeheartedly deserves.

Back at the house Chantal didn’t think Lisa should have gone home because Heather had to have her lines read to her.  Nobody else had that luxury.  Well Chantal, nobody else in the house has Asperger’s Syndrome either.  Heather may have had the lines read to her but she still couldn’t deliver them.  Lisa wasn’t tough skinned enough (and struggled wither her commercial) and although she was gorgeous and took pretty good pictures, her lack of confidence sent her packing and Heather’s steadfastness and amazing pictures kept her in the running.

Then there was Jenah who was ticked because she didn’t feel like it was a modeling competition anymore but a personality competition now.  She wasn’t the all happy go lucky Saleisha and felt like she was paying for it.  With that it statement ringing in our ears it was Tyra Mail time and the girls found out that they would be doing their Go See challenge.

As the girls got ready to go on their Go See’s they were reminded that they had to have a beautiful face AND a good personality. Uh oh.  Jenah could be abrasive and misunderstood and we all knew that Heather had problems with first impressions and social situations.  The model who impressed the most designers would win the challenge and I’m sure it would be a pretty sweet reward.  The only stipulation was that they had to be back by six o’clock (they had 6 hours) or else they would be disqualified.  They each got a translator and a cab and were off.

Saleisha made it to a Go See first but was dull to the designer (probably because when she was asked if she liked to wear sexy clothes she said no).  Heather had a good translator but as soon as they got to their destination they were on their own.  So with that, Heather was on her own in China and got totally lost, and more lost, and then even more lost.  It was so painful to watch.  Couldn’t anybody help her?  No!!  Of course not!!  It was a competition!  Nobody was going to hand out any favors to the amazingly beautiful Heather.

Jenah found that seeing the designers was very nerve racking and Chantal didn’t wear skin tone underwear so she marched around in a sheath dress with her hot pink boy pants lined with black lace underwear distracting the designer.  He encouraged her to wear flesh toned underwear next time.  Oh no Chantal!!  You know better!!

Bianca was a hit at the Go See’s.  She was tall and very friendly and had a lot of character.  Meanwhile Heather was still sooooo lost.  She finally found the first designer and I was so thrilled she was at least going to get to see one Go See at the rate she was wandering.  The designer saw potential in Heather.  On the other hand, Jenah was making it to the designers but wasn’t hitting it off with any of them!

Bianca and Saleisha ended up at the same Go See and then Bianca wanted help from Saleisha to find another designer and Saleisha wouldn’t give it up.  Later Bianca was ticked because Saleisha wouldn’t tell her the Go See was just upstairs!  Oh come on Bianca, you never help anyone and I didn’t see you helping poor lost Heather. You just laughed at her.  You deserved Saleisha not helping you!  Saleisha kissed up big time as Chantal watched and talked smack about Saleisha kissing up.  Then Chantal TOTALLY kissed up too!  That was awesome editing!

As the time ticked on it was clear that a few girls were in big trouble and more than likely would not be getting back on time.  Shanghai’s traffic was bad, bad, bad and if they would have thought about it, the six o’clock hour was more than likely major rush hour.  So, Jenah was late, Heather lost her cab and no one helped her and Chantal was late.  Three out of the five girls did not make it back on time.  Saleisha and Bianca were the only ones who made it.  Oh that was not good!

Heather got really down on herself for being disqualified and Saleisha helped her scream to let it all out.  At least Saleisha was trying to be helpful.  After the Go See’s the girls got to go out for dinner and were told that later they would find out who won the challenge.  As they dined at an open air restaurant right on the river with the beautiful Shanghai skyline glittering upon them, Bianca found out she won the challenge.  She found out by looking out on the river and saw a boat pulling a billboard for the Beijing China Olympics and Bianca’s picture was on it.  Oh my goodness.  It was a HUGE billboard and a huge challenge win!

The next day the girls found out that they would be doing some type of shoot with lions and Nigel Barker would be their photographer.  I love Nigel!!  It wasn’t exactly an animal shoot, but it was the Chinese lions and dragons you see in parades and such.  They needed to stand out and make a statement in the photo in the midst of all the Chinese color and fan fare.

Right away Jenah was sarcastic with Nigel and so unprofessional.  It made me cringe and I just wished she would zip it.  Even a fool is wise in her silence Jenah!  She came off so cocky and I don’t think she really is.  Nigel also really had to work with her to move around and draw in for the shoot and Jenah didn’t like how Nigel worked with her.  Maybe she is a closet diva!  More likely she was just insecure because it didn’t go well and was looking for someone or something to blameshift upon.  Oh Jenah, you’ll probably go home with that attitude!  Jenah really didn’t deliver when it counted most.  In some ways I guess I could say she reminded me a tad bit of CariDee who won 2 cycles ago because of her conflict with Nigel.  CariDee was so much more likeable to me though.  CariDee didn’t come off cocky and arrogant, she just said things she shouldn’t where as Jenah has been offish.

Saleisha was next and was very confident and probably did her best ever.  Bianca was looking a little mean but turned it around toward the end and Chantal forced her poses but got better as Nigel worked with her.  Heather didn’t trust herself and seemed to second guess herself and to make matters worse Jenah was way too loud during Heather’s shoot commenting on Heather and Nigel had to tell her to be quiet.   Jenah better go home…

Now it was time for panel.  The guest judge was Susan Yang who was the manager of pt models and directed them at the Go See challenge.  The final 4 girls will get to go to Beijing for the finale.

Chantal was first and Tyra used her to talk about time management since she was one of the girls who was late at the challenge. Models have shoots to make, planes to catch, appointments to be to and you have to be on time!  Listen to Mama Tyra girls!  Chantal was likeable to the designers but needed to wear nude underwear.  Ms. Jay got onto her and told her to wash them in the sink and dry her drawers with a hairdryer (since Chantal had sent her laundry off and had no nude underwear).  Twiggy thought her picture was very strong.  Nigel said she was a lot of fun to shoot but she needed to learn how to keep working when she got compliments.  She would stop and say thank you and get out of position.  Tyra liked her shot a lot.  For sure Chantal makes me smile.

Bianca.  Oh Bianca.  The girl who has a great look but she opens that mouth and makes me so mad!  She booked two out of the three jobs she went on and won the challenge.  Well, good job Bianca.  She really did do well at the Go See challenge.  Tyra loved her body language in her photo but she forgot about her face and looked like she was asleep.  Bianca needed to learn to put it all together.  Nigel said she wasn’t fluid in her positions and she just needed to relax a little bit more.  I don’t think Nigel is particularly fond of Bianca.

Jenah too was late at the challenge and the designers thought she had a diverse portfolio and a good walk but she needed to work on being more personable and that she was a little messy looking.  Twiggy loved the shot and her face.  Nigel said she had great pictures week after week BUT she had to be careful with her sense of humor.  Her sarcasm came off as arrogant and there was a fine line she steps on and doesn’t know where it is at.

Saleisha was next and the designers said she was beautiful and had a great personality.  Nigel had so much fun with her and was his favorite person for him to shoot.  She was charming and did a lot of great things.  It was one of her best photo shoots.

Heather too was reminded that she was late and that she had only seen one Go See.  Then they made her practice her walk.   Ms. Jay told her she needed a Top Model hiney whooping basically to get her to where she needed to be.  Twiggy thought her photo was fantastic.  She was sexy, gorgeous, and mysterious.  Nigel thought she needed to loosen up at the photo shoot.  She would have so many great moments and then lose it.  Things weren’t looking good for my Heather!

Then it was time to deliberate.  Of course we had to go to commercial and find out that Heather was the Covergirl of the week AGAIN.  She has won almost every single time!  America loves her and so do I!!  As they deliberated Tyra thought that Bianca had the best body language but she was Nigel’s least favorite photo shoot.  Heather’s look was great, but she couldn’t communicate very well (remember last week during the commercial shoot and this week with the Go See’s).  Saleisha was confident and had gotten more edgy which Ms. Jay liked.  Chantal had something that was missing; they thought maybe she needed more confidence.  Chantal didn’t know if she was doing the right thing or the wrong thing.  Then there was Jenah whose personality was getting in the way of herself.  Oh, I hope Heather doesn’t go home and Jenah does instead but with Heather showing two times in a row she can’t handle the in person stuff she will probably be going home.  But a girl can hope, can’t she?

The fist name Tyra called was Saleisha!  Good job girl!  Next was Bianca and then it was Chantal.  The bottom two was predictably Jenah and Heather?  Both of them were in the bottom two for their communication problems.  Tyra told them they actually had the strongest pictures out of all the girls but were in the bottom two because of Jenah’s personality and Heather’s social awkwardness.  With that Heather got sent home and Jenah got to go to Beijing.  Oh drat!  I really liked Heather.  No, I loved Heather!  I wanted her to win it all!!  Maybe she’ll pull a Chris Daughtry or a Clay Aiken and shoot to superstardom by not winning!  I’m believing for it!

Oh man, now who is going to win?  I don’t even know who to root for now?  Bianca?  NO WAY.  She’s too mean.  Saleisha?  Well…maybe.  She’s so fluffy fake to me and very self-centered.  Jenah?  If she can learn how to curb her personality!  I don’t see her winning though if she continues to be messy sarcastic girl.  Then there is Chantal who from the beginning made me laugh at how she always talked about herself, how she was born to model, and how great she was in such a sweet and non-offensive way.  Maybe I should root for sunny California Chantal.  Yes, that is a great idea!  I think maybe I just will.
