Age of Love: You’ve Got to Be Kidding…Right? Jayanna and Amanda are Like So Junior High

For some of these women junior high was over 25 years ago, but on this episode of “Age of Love” it seemed like it was just yesterday.  Even Mark bought into the “she said this to me about you” junior high lip action by 20’s representer Amanda.  I’m surprised they didn’t pass mean notes, play “Spin the Bottle”, “MASH”, or “2 Minutes in the Closet”.  Oh wait, it was “2 Minutes in the Woods” and they did have a few rounds of “Truth or Dare”.  I almost couldn’t watch this episode I was so embarrassed for practically everyone.

Tonight the ladies traded their high rise living for the woods.  Before their departure Jayanna kept proving that she was becoming more and more neurotic with her wide-eyed stares and funky lectures.  In fact, I’ve never really figured out what Mark has seen in her.  Jayanna is our first 7th grade reverter as she told us in no uncertain terms that no one was leaving with her man (especially Amanda) and pointed out to Maria in a sort of subtle but obvious way that she was annoyed Maria hadn’t opted to leave like she said she would these past two eliminations.  This is the first of many camera cameos’ showcasing Jayanna’s junior high behavior.

As the ladies packed for their camping trip we were reminded of Jayanna’s unstable relationship with her nemesis Amanda, our other 7th grade reverter.  Amanda, the amazingly sly and quiet manipulator hoped Jayanna and Jen would open their mouths and for Mark to be disgusted by what he heard.  I can see that about Jayanna because of her constant lecturing but Jen?  Here is where I began to think more and more about Amanda and why she will more than likely manipulate herself into the top 2.  She knows that Jayanna and Jen are her competition and she is looking for her opportunities to bring them down.  Besides that, every time a girl goes off for a “walk” or “special” time or “date” with Mark alone, Amanda gets a look in her eyes that would stop a freight train.  Girl if looks could kill!!  Amanda may act the victim but she has daggers in her eyes and she is working it softly and quietly lying very low hoping to stay under the radar.

After camp was set up they sat around the fire playing “Truth or Dare”.  Jayanna dropped her shorts for a dare and then Mark followed suit.  Oh man, we were so at a junior high party at this point.  Then Maria yelled at Jen because she felt laughed at and Jen left to go cry.  As Mark comforted Jen, Jayanna flipped out and lectured them all about how she tried to stop them from laughing at Maria.  Girls, girls, girls!  Detention for all of you after this camp out!

When the outburst subsided Megan took a walk with Mark (Couldn’t they feel Amanda’s daggers in their backs?) and was drunk and said very embarrassing things and was a little too honest telling Mark she doesn’t know how she felt about him.  It also bothered her that he was hanging out with older women.  Well, the show is about dating older and younger women Megan.  Poor Megan, she is barely out of junior high herself.

Next up for a walk was Jayanna.  They were gone a long time, too long for Amanda who was wallowing in her insecurity.   Her failed attempt to find them didn’ t stop her though.  She camped in his tent and waited for him like a lionness waiting for her prey.  Amanda, you get the sneaky award for the night.  Forcing her own special time she told Mark that Jayanna had told her she was silly for trusting Mark and that she can’t trust her feelings and that Mark said the same things to everybody.  Hmmm, I don’t quite remember Jayanna saying it exactly that way but Amanda was pretty convincing in her quiet and hurt whispery voice.  She definitely seized the night and used her tent infiltration to her advantage to knock off some competition and snuggle up next to Mark with her junior high tactics.

Elimination time rolled around and they were informed that one girl would be left behind.  With that Mark asked Jen, Amanda, Maria and Megan to stay even though Maria had an emotional outburst that sent Jen crying into the woods and Megan was drunk and not sure of how she felt about Mark.  Amanda’s poisonous words had set in over the long night and Mark left Jayanna in the woods because of her apparent mind games and returned to his high rise living without her.

The junior high tactics worked.  Amanda got rid of Jayanna via Mark by craftily revealing sort of true information in turn causing Mark to be “hurt”.  Jayanna, Jayanna, Jayanna.  You should never have opened your mouth to Amanda.  You know her ultimate end game is to leave the show with Mark on her arm!  Didn’t you learn anything in junior high?  She proved she was a better player than you.  She went straight to the boy and bet it all that he wouldn’t clarify what really had happened between the two girls.  All in all, Amanda and Jayanna, you are like so junior high.
